Painter of Pedigree
Telling the story of an English 18th Century animal artist's life.
Unicorn, 2017, 408pp
Unicorn's publication of Painter of Pedigree by Lawrence Weaver was a work of considerable scale. Part biographical / historical, part coffee table image collection, the book ran to over 400 pages and contained over 150 images. This amount of content required a format and typographic system that could disperse images and text at differing paces throughout. The system we chose utilised a larger, dedicated image grid and combined asymmetric composition with classical typography to give a relatively contemporary take on an obviously historic subject.
